The Eternal Divide

In the fractured territories of what was once a proud and united country, the sky belongs to the reckless and the ground belongs to the wise. Above the clouds, daredevil pilots chase glory and bullet-riddled horizons in patched aircraft held together by prayer and aviation fuel. Below, in the dusty frontier settlements, the steady ones keep the world turning with grease-stained hands and weary competence.

Sky Town is a 14-page speculative fiction zine that explores this divide through the eyes of five remarkable women who form the backbone of a ramshackle airfield carved from desperation. While pilots come and go like weather patterns, these are the people who make everything possible—and who clean up the wreckage when dreams fall to earth.

Meet the Steady Ones

Vera "Grease" Kowalski - The chief mechanic who can diagnose engine trouble from two miles away and has no patience for pilots who lie about their maintenance problems.

Mara "Tower" Chen - The flight coordinator who maintains three different flight logs: official, actual, and "plausibly deniable."

Elena "Wrench" Santos - Fuel and supply specialist with connections across three territories and a policy of never asking questions about bullet holes (but charging extra for them).

Ruth "Doc" Brennan - Engineer and medic who believes in redundant systems and keeps backup plans for her backup plans.

Carmen "Quartermaster" Rodriguez - Logistics coordinator who runs Sky Town with military efficiency and a healthy disrespect for authority.
